In their own words
Khun Prawit W.

Brought in my father's old Seiko that had not run in years. They examined it, explained what they thought the issue was, and gave me a written quote the same day. The service took about three weeks and the watch came back running better than I expected. They also mentioned a small crack in the crystal they had noted but not touched — exactly the kind of honesty I was hoping for.

Simple battery replacement for my Tissot. Done the same afternoon. They noticed the bracelet was a link too loose and adjusted it at no extra charge. It is a small thing, but it tells you something about how they approach the work. The space itself is calm and pleasant to wait in briefly.

I collect mid-century Swiss pieces and had a vintage Omega Constellation needing a full service. Wela Atelier were one of the few workshops in Bangkok willing to discuss the movement properly before quoting. They found a worn jewel and contacted me before sourcing a replacement. The result was well worth waiting for — running well and keeping good time.
HERITAGE RESTORATION · APRIL 2025

I brought my grandmother's pocket watch — a French piece from the 1940s — expecting to be told it was too complicated to service. Instead they examined it carefully and proposed a sympathetic restoration that would keep it original. I appreciated that they asked before doing anything. The watch now runs, which it had not for at least twenty years.

Full service on a Seiko 5 I have worn daily for eight years. They were straightforward — the movement was in reasonable shape and the service would mostly be preventive. They did not oversell anything. Watch came back running tighter than it had in years and passed the water-resistance test. Duration ran slightly longer than quoted but they kept me informed throughout.

Battery and strap service for two watches in the same visit, both done the same afternoon. The team were patient with my questions about how often I should service the mechanical one and gave me a clear answer without trying to upsell me into a service I did not need yet. Easy to find near BTS Surasak.

A closer look at three repairs
CASE STUDY 01 · HERITAGE RESTORATION
1968 Longines mechanical — a three-generation family watch
CHALLENGE
The watch had not run in over fifteen years. The owner's son brought it in as a retirement gift, requesting restoration without altering the original dial patina or applying any case polishing.
APPROACH
Full disassembly and cleaning. A broken mainspring and two worn bushings identified. Period-correct mainspring sourced from Switzerland. Dial and case cleaned with a soft cloth only — no polishing applied.
OUTCOME
Watch running within ±12 seconds daily after regulation. Dial and case patina fully preserved. Parts sourcing added two weeks to the timeline. The owner wore it the day of the handover.
"They waited for the correct mainspring from Europe rather than fitting something approximate. That says everything about how they approach the work."
CASE STUDY 02 · FULL MOVEMENT SERVICE
ETA 2824 automatic — losing twelve minutes a day
CHALLENGE
A client's everyday automatic had developed a significant rate problem — losing over ten minutes daily. Six years old, never serviced. No visible external damage.
APPROACH
Disassembly revealed dried lubricants and a hairspring with a slight coiling issue. Movement ultrasonically cleaned, re-lubricated, and hairspring carefully adjusted before reassembly and timing.
OUTCOME
Rate stabilised to ±5 seconds daily across five positions. Water-resistance confirmed at 50m. Returned in 18 days. Client confirmed six weeks later that the rate had held.
"They sent me photos of the timing machine results before I collected it — I did not expect that level of detail for a mid-range watch."
CASE STUDY 03 · CARE VISIT
Citizen Eco-Drive — stopped after a swim
CHALLENGE
Client's solar quartz stopped after swimming. Rated to 100m but the crown gasket had degraded and moisture had entered the case, fogging the crystal and affecting the movement.
APPROACH
Case opened, moisture evacuated, movement dried under controlled conditions. New crown and caseback gaskets fitted. Crystal replaced. Solar cell confirmed operational. Pressure test before resealing.
OUTCOME
Watch returned to service the same day. No corrosion found on inspection. Client advised to replace gaskets every two to three years, particularly given Bangkok's humidity levels.
"I expected to be told the watch was beyond repair. Instead it was done by closing time and they explained clearly what had happened and why."
