How Wela Atelier came to be
Wela Atelier opened on Charoen Krung Road — a street long associated with traders, craftspeople, and the unhurried rhythm of considered work — because that setting felt right for what we wanted to do. The neighbourhood carries a quality we try to reflect: substance over show, patience over speed.
The atelier was started by a watchmaker who spent years training with European-trained technicians before returning to Bangkok. The experience shaped a working philosophy: that a watch is not simply a device to be fixed, but a piece of engineering that deserves to be understood on its own terms. Every repair begins with examination, not assumption.
We take on a considered number of pieces at any one time so that no watch is waiting without attention. Clients are kept informed at each stage, and nothing is done without consent. That is not a policy — it is simply the way the work feels right to us.

A place of careful, considered repair
Our mission is straightforward: to carry out watch servicing and restoration in Bangkok to a standard that the movement itself would approve of. That means working cleanly, using the correct tools, sourcing proper parts, and always choosing the path that is best for the watch — even when a shorter route might be easier.
We believe that good watch care should feel reassuring rather than transactional. Clients should leave feeling that their timepiece is in sound hands and that they understand what is happening to it. We are happy to show our work, answer questions, and take as much time as the conversation needs.

Over eighteen years working with mechanical movements, trained partly in Switzerland and partly through years of patient, self-directed practice. Leads all movement overhauls and heritage restorations.
Khun Siriporn
TECHNICIAN & CASE SPECIALIST
Specialises in case and bracelet work, water-resistance testing, and quartz movement servicing. Handles all client intake assessments and condition documentation.

CLIENT RELATIONS & PARTS SOURCING
Manages client communication, appointment scheduling, and the sourcing of vintage and period-correct components through our network of trusted suppliers in Europe and Asia.
HOW WE WORK
Our standards and protocols
Each element of the way we work is chosen to protect your watch and give you confidence at every stage of the process.
Written assessment before any work
Every watch receives a documented condition report. We share this with the client and wait for written or verbal approval before proceeding. No work begins without consent.
Ultrasonic and rinse cleaning
Movement components are cleaned in a multi-stage ultrasonic bath using watch-grade solvents, then rinsed and dried under controlled conditions before lubrication.
Timing machine regulation
After reassembly, mechanical movements are tested on a timing machine across multiple positions to verify rate accuracy and beat error before returning to the client.
Water-resistance pressure testing
Watches with water-resistance ratings are pressure-tested using calibrated equipment after servicing, with new gaskets fitted where required.
Secure storage and logging
Each watch is photographed, serial-number logged, and stored in a padded, locked cabinet when not on the bench. Clients may contact us at any time to confirm their watch's status.
Responsible parts sourcing
We source components from vetted suppliers across Europe and Asia, prioritising original manufacturer parts and, for vintage pieces, period-correct new-old-stock wherever available.
WATCH REPAIR IN BANGKOK
Mechanical expertise in the heart of Bang Rak
Watch servicing draws on knowledge that accumulates slowly — through hours at the bench, through the particular resistance of a worn jewel, through the sound a balance wheel makes when it is running cleanly against when it is not. At Wela Atelier we have worked with Swiss-made movements, Japanese calibres, and a wide range of European vintage pieces, and each type of work has added something to the understanding we bring to the next.
Bangkok's climate poses particular considerations for mechanical watches. Humidity accelerates the degradation of lubricants, and temperature variation affects the metal tolerances within a movement over time. Watches worn and stored in Thailand often benefit from a service interval shorter than the manufacturer's general recommendation. We factor this into our assessments honestly, without overstating what is needed.
For collectors and those who have inherited a timepiece, we understand that a watch can carry significance beyond its function. A patina that took decades to form, a dial that carries the marks of a previous owner's daily wear — these details deserve to be considered before any polishing cloth comes near the case. Our approach to heritage restoration is conservative: we do only what is asked and nothing that cannot be undone.
Wela Atelier serves clients across Bangkok and welcomes visitors by appointment or walk-in during opening hours. We are positioned on Charoen Krung Road in Bang Rak, a few minutes from the BTS Surasak station and within easy reach of Silom, Sathon, and the riverside neighbourhoods.
